Restaurante Pia Y Damaso is a Filipino Restaurant with a twist!
The interior is quite stylish and elegant - I likey!
For appies, Marianne and I ordered the SNAILS AND CHORIZOS
(sauteed native snails with chorizos, garlic, onions, olive oil and red wine, Php 250)
The snails were really really good!!!
I liked the fact that they considered providing a little bowl of water with lemon for us to dip our fingers.
We chose to share a pitcher of TUBIG NI MARIA
(a cold pitcher of fresh cucumber juice, ginger, and citrus water, Php 300)
This was very refreshing.
The taste of ginger was just right, not overpowering the cucumber juice.
Marianne's order: LUCBAN LONGGANISA & ROASTED PEPPER PASTA
(roasted red peppers, garlic flavored native sausages, corn kernels, oilve oil and tomatoes, Php 360)
It was good but Marianne said that the CREAMY TINAPA pasta was way better.
My choice of pasta - FIG, APPLES, PINENUTS & ROASTED GARLIC
(sundried figs, caramelized apples, onions and garlic, toasted pinenuts, basil, olive oil & Davao goat's chevre, Php 330)
This was very interesting.
The flavor was a mixture of sweet and salty goodness.
Just a tip: you should make sure that you slice the figs and other ingredients and carefully mix them to truly enjoy this pasta :)
Another interesting item (not on the menu)
We ordered Guava-Caramel Ice cream AND one Almond yoghurt.
To our big surprise, it was actually just one order!
The ice cream was guava, caramel ice cream and almond yoghurt!
I didn't like it.
It wasn't really good and the texture was a bit grainy and too creamy.
Lily's snack: HAM AND CHICKEN CROQUETTES
(eight crisp breaded nuggets of ham, chicken, mushroom and cream, Php 160)
First comment: MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmm
Second comment: Yummm
Before this was served, the waiter had a mistake.
The waiter ordered FILO TARTS and tried to serve it to our table.
We politely informed him that my friend ordered the croquettes and NOT the FILO TARTS.
Of course, he had to ask the kitchen to make the croquettes, which was cool BUT then he tried to dispose the FILO TARTS by asking our group to buy it, which was really irritating.
Then, we overheard him trying to sell his mistake to the other group, who agreed to take the Filo Tarts.
I wonder if it still tasted good since it was sitting on the counter for several minutes before somebody agreed to order it.
Mark Davis's CHICKEN WITH SHERRY & PIMIENTO
(roasted chicken quarter with garlic, sherry, Spanish paprika, green olives, extra virgin olive oil, herbs and roasted peppers, Php 375)
This entree could've been better if they used a little less salt.
Also, the rosemary/thyme was very very strong.
