New Spiral Buffet: Enjoy A Gastronomical Journey Through 21 Dining Ateliers

Bonjour! Mabuhay! - these were the welcome greetings at last night's "invite-only" event at Sofitel Philippine Plaza as we celebrated the unveiling of the New Spiral Buffet Restaurant. (We came as representatives of WhenInManila, an awesome blogging community.)

Known as Manila's biggest, most popular and fashionable eatery, the extravagant re-birth unveiled a bigger and better Spiral with 21 dining ateliers. Dining will never be the same again as the new Spiral take destination dining to a whole new level - they even have a CHEESE room!!!

Let the pictures guide you as we traveled the culinary world with our taste buds - Asian/Oriental kitchens, Spiral's French stove corner, Brazilian churrasco, North Indian specials, Japanese teppanyaki and many more.

"In France, an atelier is an artist’s special workshop, and in Spiral it is where secret recipes are masterfully prepared right before your very eyes."

Freshly baked breads made out of patience and love with a wide variety of home-made spreads like tapenade, anchoyade, pesto and dry tomato among others.

Spiral's most talked about Cheese Room

The new Spiral buffet boasts of its very own CHEESE room - once you go inside, you'll wish to stay there forever.

Cheese galore and many more :)

dry-cured hams from around the world - perfect with onion and strawberry jams

Is it that obvious that this is our favorite part of the new Spiral buffet?

Dining area at the Asian section

Lovely details at the new Spiral buffet

Rock lobsters, stuffed prawns and other stir-fried specials at the Oriental wok station.

Dimsum selections: hakao, siao long bao, scallop dumpling, pork buns, etc

Frog legs and fragrant Thai spices

Spicy kimchi to fire up your taste buds

Korean barbeques!!!

Sushi/Sashimi and cold section is now located at the OLD Spiral's dessert section

Freshest catch of the day: sweet oysters, tuna, salmon, eel, shrimp, cuttlefish, lapu-lapu, etc.

California rolls, spicy tuna/salmon rolls, vegetarian rolls

Japanese hot station: Sukiyaki, teppanyaki, miso soup, etc.

crispy karaages, croquettes and tempura

Let's go to Europe. Bon Appetit! Spiral's French Stove station offers the most exquisite fine dining dishes served buffet style - foie gras, baked oysters, duck confit, etc.

 Foie Gras!!!!

These savory foie gras terrines were in everyone's plate.

After Europe, we traveled all the way to India and Brazil for a meat-lover's feast:

check out Spiral's tandoori oven filled with meat and Indian bread

Still drooling over last night's Brazilian churrasco feast of  meats grilled to perfection: prime ribs, rib-eye, lamb leg, pork shoulder and many more.

Spiral's new dining set-up near the chocolate room and cheese room

Spiral's CHOCOLATE room is perfectly situated at the old spiral's sushi/cold section

Evidently, Spiral only uses the finest ingredients for their sweet desserts. I bet Willy Wonka will be proud of Sofitel for making a Chocolate room :)

You're not seeing double, but triple chocolate fondue!

oooh.. I've been popping those dark chocolate balls in my mouth the whole night - happiness overload!

The chocolate room has the famous Spiral choco-chip cookies (I wish I can take that bowl of ecstasy home with me). Be  ready to get mesmerized with the many desserts showcased in pull-out glass drawers (eclairs, panna cota, macarons, jelly, etc) But if you're watching your weight, don't fret because the fruit selection is also as good as the rest of the sweet treats :)

Christmas is in the air with Spiral's Pinoy dessert station - "bibingka at puto-bumbong" plus halo-halo with ice cream! Yum!

Moving on, did you know that the new Spiral has added a new indoor dining area that is so chic and romantic? It also has a nice center bar with overflowing wines, champagnes, and just about any drink you can imagine.

Dinners are made more special when shared with your special someone, don't you think? ♥♥♥
