Johnny Steams: Manila's Manila's First Steamed Cheeseburgers!

When I first heard about steamed burgers, I thought to myself, I had to try one to know if these are really good or is it just a hype?

It was a Saturday evening when we decided to go to Midnight Mercato Centrale and grab some Johnny Steams burger.

Since slow-cooking makes the beef dry, the 100% pure Batangas beef patties are cooked in a custom-made high-voltage steamer in order to retain its juiciness and keep the flavors intact.

Yankee Burger (Php 140)

There are foie gras burgers, sloppy joes, chorizo burgers, etc. But for me, peanut butter burger is still the best burger invention. I guess a lot seems to agree because I've learned that Johnny Steams's best-selling item is the Yankee burger - ridiculously delicious 100% premium beef patty oozing with creamy peanut butter goodness, topped with crispy bacon strips and melted mozzarella cheese. A MUST TRY!

The BMM (Bacon Mushroom Melt - Php 150) - a classic!!!

Chili Cheese Burger (Php 130)

Johnny Steams knows best how to spice up a meal - homemade chili sauce mixed with my favorite jalapeño peppers! Yum!

The Breakfast Club (Php 170)

If you are looking for a hearty meal, Johnny Steams's TBC would make you wish you wore maternity pants. This is HUGE - premium beef patty with egg, ham, crispy bacon strips and mozzarella cheese.

I don't know how to finish this in one sitting.

Aside from huge, juicy and flavorful burgers, Johnny Steams also offers mozzarella cheesesticks and fries.

For truffle lovers like me, I'm happy to share with you that Johnny Steams serves the yummiest truffle cheese wedge fries ever. You-Must-try-This!

We also tried Johnny Steams's thrist-quenchers. These were very refreshing, especially good when you're dining at Mercato Centrale. (FYI, the air-conditioning units are still in the covered tent, but these are no longer working for quite some time now. I wonder why?!)
