Where To Get Affordable Quality Wines In Manila: SANTIS DELICATESSEN

Where To Get Affordable Quality Wines In Manila: SANTIS DELICATESSEN

You are invited to go to a party and what do you bring? First things that come to mind are food and wine. But, you're on a tight budget and good quality wines are too expensive! Well, we thought wrong because apparently, there are good quality wines that are affordable and really pleasing to the taste buds.
Brampton Wines, pictured above, are some of the new wines produced by the DGB Group of South Africa. These are more fun and fruity, perfect for lazy days. Brampton wines are more popular among the younger generation because these are known to be more "playful" and truly affordable, with prices ranging from Php 400 - Php 500++ a bottle.

Brampton Rosé 2012
"This wine combines the finest fresh red strawberries from Merlot with an elegant mulberry contribution from the Pinotage, the remainder of the varieties each add their own bit of colour to the flavour canvas. A crisp natural acidity ensures that the palate delivers a basket full of fresh summer fruit, the perfect companion to lazy days and long evenings."

The BeachHouse Sparkling
The Beachhouse is a deliciously easy drinking white blend of Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, sweet and light.

I highly recommend The BeachHouse for beginners, who will surely enjoy a cheerful glass of sunny tropical and citrus fruits invigorated by a tangerine twang with a dry frisky finish.

Rib Shack Red 2011
A fine blend of Pinotage and Shiraz, with a touch of wood. Made to be enjoyed with meaty dishes.

Speaking of meats, we just love it when Werdenberg Int’l. Corp holds intimate wine tasting events like this because it only means that aside from tasting great wines, Mr. Werdenberg makes sure that awesome food is prepared for the guests. I just had the juiciest and tastiest roast beef in my whole life that night that I almost forgot about the wines :p

Okay, after restraining myself to have my Nth plateful of yummy goodness, I have to get back to the main event...

So, I've already shown you Brampton, The BeachHouse and Rib Shack. These are the names of the wines that are highly recommended for budgets below Php 600. You may get them at Santis Delicatessen, where the best wines are.

If your budget is Php 400 - Php 800++, or below Php 1,000, I suggest Boschendal Wines that were also featured that night and were equally good :)

Boschendal Sauvugnon Blanc   |   Boschendal Le Bouquet

"The Sauvignon Blanc is a straw-coloured wine that has an aroma of herbs and tropical fruit, with hints of lime and green fig. These complex flavours carry through to the creamy, harmonious plate adding to the mineral zesty finish."

"The Le Bouquet is a medium-sweet wine that has bold, tropical fruit flavours, peach and pineapple with spicy undertones and a lingering floral aroma with honeysuckle and fragipani. Tantalizing vibrancy, soft and uncloying."

 Boschendal Merlot
"Very attractive vibrant ruby depth of colour with typical dominant red cherry and fleshy plum fruit perfectly completed by slick underlying spicy oak and savoury richness all supported by supple ripe tannins for a well balanced succulent smooth finish. A wine to enjoy now or in the next 5 years."

Boschendal Reserve Vin D' Or
"This natural sweet wine presents you with load of tropical fruit aromas, hints of apple and citrus, trimmed with some honey."

For a happy ending, pair your desserts with this sweet wine. It reminded me very much of Ice Wines - really sweet that it seems like a dessert by itself :)
