Highlands Steakhouse, Tagaytay OR Mamou?!

We have just recently spent the weekend at Tagaytay Highlands and decided to share my experience at Highlands Steakhouse. 

It was a good Sunday morning. The lady at the reception spared us some stress and was kind enough to seat all 24 of us in good tables. (My Aunt's secretary forgot to make a reservation :p ).

I was immediately impressed with the look and ambiance of the place. I think it is especially nicer at night, romantic indeed.

So anyway, I have heard many good reviews about Highlands Steakhouse so I was pretty excited to try their specialty, THE STEAK.

Roast Rack of Lamb with Herb Crust (Php 1,580)

I asked for it to be cooked medium-rare to medium the most, but it was served well-done and really tough to chew on. Fortunately, the taste was good. I liked it with the creamed spinach. Thanks for the jaw exercise, by the way.

U.S. Angus Rib-Eye (15 oz.) Php 1,958

This was supposed to be served on the table together with a mini-griller. The gimmick was for us to cook the steak "cowboy" style. I think the server got confused and served our steak cooked...medium-well :( 

I told him about the lambs as well, but he never offered another option. (If this happened in MAMOU or MELO's, for sure, no questions will be asked - they'll change the food at once. Customer satisfaction guaranteed) 

Given the fact that we were starving, we just let it go and enjoyed our lunch. But still, we couldn't help but compare the steak to MAMOU's :) Oh Mamou, you're still the best out there!

Overall, we liked Highlands Steakhouse, less the boo-boos. Price was as expected, ambiance was great, food needs improvement (I do not like my steak well-done or even close to it, that's for sure), service was so-so. Will we come back? Most probably yes, to give it one more try. I just hope that next time, with the price we're paying, we hope to get good quality steak, cooked to perfection :)
