This was an unfortunate incident emailed to me by a friend and I just want to share this as a warning to everyone. It happened in Mag-Aso Falls in Bohol last June 30, 2009
Also, i can just imagine your friend’s frustrations when this went unnoticed. This should have been made public to warn and make people safe.
I felt the same way (although mine is relatively petty compared to your experience)- I got stuck in traffic for 8 hours. Usually my travel time from office to home is just an hour. But due to the celebration of one religious group last july 27th- traffic was so bad that public transport was aversely affected.
I tried monitoring the news but failed to see any report.
Funny how media becomes selective. Sometimes they would feature domestic violence and sensationalize it- making audience endure such scenes and the only reprieve a change in channel.
But my experience and your friend’s can be considered as public interest but went unnoticed.
I believe such frustrations (mine at least) stems from the idea that in this times and age- a media coverage confirms the truth of an experience.
However, I console myself with the thought that no media coverage can erase the event- as I was there to experience it- reported, sensationalized or not.
Oh My God! I posted this on my facebook! There must be people responsible for this event! For God's sake, this cannot be a TOURIST SPOT if this suddenly change into a MONSTER! Taking people's lives!
I believe most of our falls behave like this way once there's a heavy rainfall that occured. My take on this is that authorities who's taking care of the place should notify tourist that a heavy rainfall happend and should not open the site immediately for viewing....so sad about this news....
this is so bad...sorry to hear about this...
ReplyDeleteoh my goshhh.... I hope they made it out alive... DDD:
