The King and I (Resorts World Manila, Philippines) - A Sneak Preview

The King and I (Resorts World Manila, Philippines) - A Sneak Preview

"Sourced from the 1944 novel by Margaret Landon’s chronicle of Anna Leonowens memoirs, as she was chosen to become governess to King Mongkut of Siam’s many children in the early 1860’s, The King and I tells the travails of a British schoolteacher and her life in a foreign land, marred by conflict and an unexpressed love for the King."

The "Shall We Dance?" act is the window of connection where they saw each other as normal people trying to just "connect."

Costume Designer Rajo Laurel and Director Freddie Santos

"Aside from being staged at the grandest and most state-of-the-art theater in the country, The King and I also boasts of promising new sets of production props; lights, sound, and video technologies; and even the most exquisitely designed wardrobe hemmed by no less than Philippine fashion icon Rajo Laurel.

Fans will surely be enticed by the fresh take of prolific stage authority Direk Freddie Santos on the beloved classic, as he spices up the immortal tale of Anna and the King of Siam, complementing the dreamy scoring courtesy of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar."

Director Freddie Santos on the Philippine Version of The King and I:
Vocal Attacks: "Less stringent, less operatic in nature and more conversational."
More Emotional Treatment: "The story is focused on the love issue more than the racial issue or the cultural differences."

MARKET CAFE - Delicious Buffet at Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila

MARKET CAFE - where everything is made and served fresh daily. Quality is never compromised.

Local beers and sodas are included in the buffet. Drink all you can, but make sure you still leave some space for the awesome food.

TIP: Market Cafe's Guava Iced Tea is really good; however, it's not included in the buffet.

Market Cafe's Western Station - charcoal grill, pizza oven, pasta station and rotisserie

top blade steak, lamb chops, pork belly, marinated chicken, salmon steak

FYI: During dinner buffet, the meat selection also includes prime ribs and Angus rib eye steak. YUM!

I couldn't get enough of the lamb chops with mint jelly. I think I ate at least six. Yikes!

Market Cafe - Baked Pasta and Paella Valenciana

There are plenty more pasta choices available, which are cooked upon request: spaghetti, fetuccine, penne, rigatoni with various sauce selections such as: aglio olio, pesto, bolognese, carbonara, pomodoro and puttanesca.

All breads are freshly baked daily at Market Cafe

Assorted cold cuts

my personal picks: brie, blue cheese and port salut

Market Cafe's amazing salad bar.

They do have the regular salad dressings and condiments but I love the additional condiments more: preserved fruits, nuts and spices! Oh, and there are also special dressings available that you might want to try (apart from the usual balsamic vinegar, thousand island, etc): oil and white wine vinegar, pommery mustard, and yogurt citrus dressing.

Market Cafe's COLD Station

It looks very straightforward - fresh seafood sitting on a mountain of ice with lemons. It's good to know that Market Cafe supports the local community. The oysters are brought daily from Kalibo, Aklan; and, the tuna from Davao or General Santos City.

FYI: During the weekends, special Norwegian salmon is served, along with the rock lobsters from Taiwan :)

Market Cafe's Asian Station

Live wok cooking station! You may request dishes like black pepper squid, sinigang, or whatever your heart desires!

steamed seabass and kids' favorite prawn crackers

There are always 4 types of dimsum served everyday, which depends on what's available: pork and shrimp siomai, chiu chow (pork and shrimp with nuts), siopao, pork dumplings, chicken feet, pork spare ribs, duck wings, etc.

tempura galore

Market Cafe: Teppanyaki Station

Market Cafe's sushi station

Enjoy the freshest sashimi and sushi to your heart's delight!

TIP: You may ask the chef to make a special makimono roll of your own choice - how about tuna, crab meat, salmon and snapper all in one roll?!

Market Cafe's Dessert Station

It was like dessert haven - cakes, fresh fruits, tarts, flans, fondue, ice creams and more!

fresh fruits

pineapple + chocolate = ♥♥♥

Market Cafe churns their own ice creams

Among the yummy ice cream flavors are: black sesame, ube, dalandan sherbet (a real good palate cleanser), oreo cookie, cheese (made with cream cheese), strawberry, mango yogurt (sugar free!!!), coffee Bailey's, and rich chocolate fudge.

Bread and Butter Pudding

The bread and butter pudding is a must try whenever you dine at Market Cafe! It's scrumptiously good that it became their staple signature dessert.
