Aria Pizza: Pure Perfection in a Pie

Aria Pizza: Pure Perfection in a Pie

At Aria Cucina Italiana, a section of the kitchen is devoted to a laboratorio – this is where the work and the magic begin. The people who work in this special kitchen are a group of talented individuals dedicated to giving their customers the best authentic Italian cuisine – especially authentic Aria Italian Pizza.

Chef Marino of the Aria Manila branch says that it's all about CARE, in order to make a good quality pizza. "You have to care when you choose the ingredients, care as you make the dough, and care when you create each pizza."

My husband and I with our Aria Pizza Masterpiece

As advised by Chef Marino, we cared - this was what we did while doing our own Aria Pizza masterpiece. We chose the best possible ingredients, from the sauce base to the fresh toppings and to the presentation.

My Aria Pizza Masterpiece:

1st quarter of my Aria Pizza: tomato based - with artichokes, mushrooms, chili pepper, mozzarella cheese, Gorgonzola cheese, brie cheese, zucchini, pine nuts and basil leaves.
2nd quarter of my  Aria Pizza: tomato based - with chili pepper, mozzarella cheese, Gorgonzola cheese, pine nuts, parma ham and peppery arugula.
3rd quarter of my Aria Pizza: cream + pesto based - with a drizzle of olive oil, shrimps, basil leaves, mozzarella cheese, Gorgonzola cheese and pine nuts.
4th quarter of my Aria Pizza: cream + pesto based - with a drizzle of olive oil, mushroom, spinach, mozzarella cheese, Gorgonzola cheese, brie cheese and pine nuts.

My ARIA PIZZA creation was soooo good! I wish I can order this again in Aria :p

Blockbuster City Fashion Show 2012 at Shangri-La Plaza

Last May 5, 2012, we were able to have a sneak peek of this year's hottest films to look forward to. Shangri-La Plaza organized yet another fun-tastic fashion show this summer, which brought to life the grandeur of the blockbusters with collections and ensembles grouped into movie-themed categories.

Inspired by the layered nomadic looks from Ice Age 4, Zara, Plains & Prints and Kids of Bayo showcased how classic pieces were updated to suit its youthful wearers, while Mint Lush +O and Una Rosa demonstrated how casual wear can be turned into fashionably dressy ensembles.

Madagascar 3 unleashed the safari vibe from mainstream brands Gap, Debenhams, Naf Naf, Folded & Hung, Fletcher and PJ Sleepwear. The outfits were in animal prints, with touches of vibrant colors to add playfulness to the whole safari summer look.

Not to be missed were fashionably on-trend monochromatic black and white multi-looks from Crossings Department Store, Human, Converse and Bench, all of which were inspired by the film Men In Black 3.

The military look, inspired by the movie G.I. Joe Retaliation, was definitely in the zone as participating brands Osh Kosh B’ Gosh, Mothercare, Space, and Bayo featured the evolution of the military look that suited the season.

Finally, party wear shone in the spotlight as Rustan’s Department Store, Gingersnaps, R.A.F. and Periwinkle took their fashion cues from the film Snow White and the Huntsman with pieces that spoke volumes of the theme bejeweled frou frou. They showcased a repertoire of style-savvy outfits perfect for that special occasion.

Ma Maison - Japanese-Western Cuisine at Greenbelt 2, Makati

Ma Maison - serving good Japanese and Western dishes at Greenbelt 2, Makati

The rustic laid-back ambiance was very homey and inviting, with floral table cloths that resembles that of  grandma's :)

If you want a more intimate dining experience, reserve this table at the back of the room so you can have a little more privacy.

Details like the iron chandelier and Tiffany lamp added glamour to Ma Maison's rustic Japanese-Western theme :)

While waiting for our food to arrive, our table was given a mug of breadsticks, which made our hungry tummies happy :)

My niece was so happy when she was given a plate of her own.

Baked Escargots (Php 385)

Buttery, soft and chewy huge snails - cooked just the way we want it. Adding a pinch of salt makes it even yummier!

Chasoba Salad (Php 425)

Ma Maison's cold green tea soba noodle salad was okay but I believe it is quite expensive for a plate of noodles, ham, veggies and egg salad.

Chicken Wings (Php 245)

Mmmm.. Ma Maison's chicken wings were good! I savored each and every little bite I could get from these crispy wings - flavors so full and tasty to the bone!

Don't worry. It's okay to get your hands dirty because each table gets a basket of wet tissue, etc :)

Aloe Vera Apple Juice (Php 125)

A refreshing apple juice with sweet aloe vera bits.

Tonkatsu (Php 375)

Ma Maison's famous pork cutlet is definitely one of the best! The meat was so soft and juicy with a crisp light breading.

Best way to eat it: Dab a bit of crushed Japanese rock salt, dip it in the special tonkatsu sauce, eat and ENJOY!

Ma Maison's tonkatsu comes with a side salad and mashed potato. I liked the Japanese dressing so much! It reminded me of Sushi Kushi's yummy ginger salad dressing - sooo gooood!!!

Seafood Paella (Php 695)
baked saffron rice with mussels, clams, prawns and squid

Ma Maison is a Japanese-Western restaurant and not a Spanish restaurant so don't expect too much.

Squid Ink Spaghetti (Php 275)

The spaghetti noodles were served al dente - with mushrooms, onions and squid bits in squid ink sauce. This was gone in seconds :)

DOTENI Hamburger Steak (Php 395)

What exactly is DOTENI sauce - it is made up of red miso beans stewed for 28 days. That's how special Ma Maison's doteni sauce is. Also, the patty consists of beef AND pork combined so expect juicy beefy meat and pork fats in this delectable treat.

Curry Udon (Php 325)

Ma Maison's curry udon noodles came in a sizzling bowl. The soup was very rich, zesty and flavorful - perfect with a slice of bread or a cup of rice.

Beef Stroganoff Butter Rice (Php 375)
Buttered rice wrapped in omelet served with beef slices in brown sauce

Frozen Green Tea Brazo de Mercedes (Php 185)

I will definitely come back at Ma Maison not just for their TONKATSU but most especially for their Frozen Green Tea. It was a four-layer of heavenly goodness: egg meringue, green tea ice cream, custard cream and graham crust.

White Chocolate Mixed Fruit Tart (Php 195)

I was never a fan of white chocolates but my niece loved this the most, especially the fresh fruits that came with it. The filling tasted that of a milky cream chocolate cheese that makes kids go gaga over dessert.

Ma Maison is encouraging customers to text their comments/suggestions, which goes to the top management and store manager. This way, they get to make necessary actions faster. Of course, Sofia doesn't know how to send an SMS yet so she made her own "letter" to Maris, our superb server.

Again, to Maris, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making our Ma Maison dining experience wonderful :) We will go back very soon :)
